Many people with who are D/deaf, hard of hearing, have a sight impairment or a those with a disability need support when it comes to looking for work or accessing employment, training and education opportunities. Our service has been specifically designed to meet these needs.

Looking for a job or to move into education or training
The employment team offers support through one to one appointments or group activities and training including:

  • Information, advice and guidance
  • Support with accessing further education, training or volunteer opportunities
  • Career Planning
  • Completing a CV and application forms
  • Confidence building
  • Job search and job club
  • Interview preparation
  • Coaching and mentoring
  • Improving your English, writing, IT and Math skills

Support for employers
Employers can lack confidence in employing people with a disability and many are not aware of the Government’s Access to Work scheme, which can help meet the cost of reasonable adjustments in the workplace and cover costs such as interpreters. We can support employers in a range of ways including making recruitment processes more accessible, increasing awareness and helping employers understand Access to Work.

Further information
Our Employment Services are funded through a range of sources including The National Lottery Community Fund and a project called PURE which we are delivering in partnership with Birmingham City Council.
